A Vita Persii is one of the most important testimonies in the history of the Silver Age in Latin literature, which is referred to without exception by the studies dealing mainly with the literature or history of Nero’s era. However, previous editions of the biography are incomplete – a shortfall this volume makes up for.
By including the whole text of Vita Persii, the volume examines the history of its textual and manuscript traditions, problems of textual criticism, previous editions and research history, dating, the issue of authorship, sources and linguistic characteristics of the text. The author of the volume, after providing a detailed examination, also includes a commentary.
