Our colleague András Szenczi conducted research at Leiden University’s Nederlands Instituut Marokko (NIMAR) between December 2017 and May 2018. During his time there, he had the opportunity to consult experts on the Almohad era and local forms of Moroccan society and Islam. In addition to exchanging views with researchers, our colleague was also able to study unpublished manuscripts at the Ibn Yūsuf Archives in Marrakech.
He had the opportunity to visit the 24th International Book Fair in Casablanca, which that year had Egypt as a guest of honour to symbolise the growing cultural links between the two countries. The texts editions and expert literature he acquired there on the medieval history of the Maġreb region have been added to our library stock.
The research he conducted in Morocco has greatly contributed to our researcher’s effort to put the Almohad movement’s early history into new light.
