Omar Sayfo obtained his PhD at Utrecht University in 2016. In 2014 he was a visiting researcher at the Center of Islamic Studies at the University of Cambridge. His main research focus is on media and politics in the Arab Middle East. He published extensively in edited volumes, and journals like The Journal of Popular Culture, Die Welt Des Islams, and International Journal of Communication. He also published articles in The New York Times, Foreign Policy, Huffington Post, and others. His first monograph was published in 2021 by Edinburgh University Press.
