RESEARCH AREA
Area of interest: Islamic theology, Eastern Christian theology, premodern dogmatic and exegetical textual tradition of Islam and Christianity, Quranic commentaries, Christian exegesis, Christian literature in Arabic.
The main focus of my interest is the comparison of Islam and Christian teachings, including the theological aspects of Middle Eastern Christianity and Islam. I wrote my BA thesis about the history of Christian churches in Syria and the situation of Christians under the authority of Islam in the Umayyad and Abbasid caliphates. In my MA thesis, I analyzed the verses of the Qur’an about Jesus based on classic Qur’an commentaries. My doctoral research is about the meaning of divine love in Arabic dogmatic and exegetical textual traditions of Middle Eastern Christianity and Islam.
