Our colleague, István Lánczky’s monograph, titled “Individuals at the Intersection of Perspectives. Individuation of Material Substances in Avicenna’s Philosophy,” has been published by De Gruyter (now De Gruyter Brill) as volume 46 in the series Scientia Graeco-Arabica.
The book examines the question of the individual, the person, through the work of the greatest figure of Arabic philosophy, Avicenna (d. 1037). By studying the Greek philosophical roots and Muslim rational theology, the monograph sheds new light on Avicenna’s teaching on individuation.
