On March 15, 2025, the Director of our Institute, Miklós Maróth, renowned classical philologist and orientalist, was awarded the Széchenyi Grand Prize in recognition of his exemplary scholarly career. The honor highlights his internationally acclaimed contributions to Hungarian Oriental Studies, his extensive publications promoting the understanding of ancient Greek and Arab cultures. Miklós Maróth is a Széchenyi Prize-winning classical philologist and orientalist, holder of the Hungarian Corvin Chain, a full member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and honorary president of the Union Académique Internationale. As a retired university professor, he is recognized for his outstanding teaching work and active scientific organizing activities that have enriched Hungarian intellectual life.
