The „Material Aspects of Manuscripts of the Islamicate World, with a Special Focus on Bookbinding” workshop was held at the State Library of Berlin from 9–14 September, 2024. The organisers were the Berlin State Library, al-Furqān Islamic Heritage Foundation and the Corpus Coranicum research project at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences. As part of the „Scriptorium: Workshops on the study of Oriental manuscripts”, this year’s workshop focused on the materiality of manuscripts, such as writing supports and bookbindings. The lectures were given by renowned conservators and experts in Arabic codicology. Our institute was represented by Eszter Csontos.
