The fourth International Conference on the History of Arabic Literature (ICHAL) was held in Kiev on 19–20^th September, 2019. The theme of this year’s conference focused on intercultural relationships (“Bridging the Cultures to Overcome the Frontiers”). The event was organized by the Department of Middle East Languages and Literature at Taras Shevchenko National University and the Egyptian Center for Arabic Language and Cultures. On the conference, our Institute was represented by Gyöngyi Oroszi, who read her paper on the problems concerning generic classification in The Thousand and One Nights (“The Limits of Generic Classification: Fairy-Tales in The Thousand and One Nights”).
