In 2017, the library at the Avicenna Institute of Middle Eastern Studies expanded significantly. Besides general theoretical works, the focus remained on obtaining antique books that are difficult to come by and collecting Arabic and Persian source materials. In addition, the magazine collection at our library has increased significantly.
Thanks to our acquisitions, our library now boasts access to primary sources, expert literature and journals that many European libraries lack.
Thanks to our developing international relations, our library has also received a significant donation of books, which has resulted in the acquisition of nearly 800 Arabic works.
During the year, our colleagues participated in two international book fairs. At the Tehran International Book Fair from May 3-13, 2017, our colleagues enriched our library with approximately 350 volumes of works written in Persian. Researchers from the Avicenna Institute of Middle Eastern Studies then visited the Beirut International Book Fair from November 30 to December 9. As a result of this trip, more than 600 volumes of Arabic works were added to our library. Following acquisitions in 2017, by the end of the year, the library stock had exceeded 18,000 volumes.
