FIELD OF STUDY
Interest: Muslim political thought, social aspect of Islam, early history of the Almohad movement, mahdī ideology.
The focus of my interest is the phenomena when political groups use the different interpretations of the religion according to their own political aims. The scope of the legitimation is closely linked to this issue and meanwhile it is the cornerstone of the theoretical dissimilarity of the different Muslim religious groups.
Previously, I have analysed the ideological background of the Almohad movement applying elements from different sources, with special focus on the amalgamation of the Shi’i and Sunni components.
In my dissertation I would like to perform further researches in the field of the early Almohad history, considering the possibly Shi’i traditions in the Sūs valley, the genealogical problems in connection with Ibn Tūmart, the connection with al-Ghazālī and also the ethnical background of the movement. The ideological writings from inside of the movement, historical works of the Almohad history and chronicles serves as a basis of my researches.
