This collection of studies contains the edited proceedings of the scientific conference titled “The Role of Religion in Shaping Politics” organised on 20 February 2018 by the University of Public Service (NKE) and the Avicenna Institute of Middle Eastern Studies (AKKKI). The papers were authored by Boglárka Koller, Miklós Maróth, Márta Munding, László Takács, Kornél Szovák, Mónika Szente-Varga, Péter Krisztián Zachar, István Lánczky, András Barati, Erzsébet N. Rózsa, Levente Teklovics and Csilla Horváthné Varga Polyák.
Through history, religious studies, political science, and interdisciplinary approach, the papers of the book explored what the relationship of religiosity and politics used to mean for the individual circles of civilization, what it means or could mean for them today, and how similar the individual interpretations and attempts at a solution are to one other and in what ways they are different.
